Toto “Dogz Of Oz Tour” Is Coming To Minnesota In 2022
Toto announced dates for their new "Dogz Of Oz" Tour and one of the stops will bring them to Southern Minnesota.
Toto, known for songs like "Africa" and "Rosanna" is bringing their show to the Mystic Showroom. The band has been itching to get out on tour so much that they recorded an album live in a venue with no one in it. The album is called "With A Little Help From My Friends" on their new record label The Players Club/Mascot Label Group.
I talked to Steve Lukather, guitarist, singer, and one of the founders for Toto told me it's kind of the greatest hits live experience with some other tunes like their rendition of "With A Little Help From My Friends", which you can see below.
Lukather told me it's all about having fun. He said a lot of their music is showing up on classic hits radio stations and that they aren't concerned about the selling albums rat race. They enjoy reaching back into the closet for some deep-cut tunes and people are liking the walk down memory lane.
Joseph Williams told me before the record was released that they had to go somewhere and play because that is what they do. Musicians play for people, and as soon as they could hit the road they did and they were looking forward to playing everywhere.
Here are the details,The "Dogz Of Rock" Tour hits Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake, MN, and will play the Mystic Showroom stage at 8 pm on Friday, March 18th, 2022, and the tickets go on sale December 17th.
The band is made up of Toto co-founder and musical director David Paich. Also on stage Steve Lukather and Joseph Williams with new band members bassist John Pierce (Huey Lewis and The News), drummer Robert “Sput” Searight (Ghost-Note), and keyboardist/background vocalist Steve Maggiora (Robert Jon & The Wreck). Keyboardist Dominique “Xavier” Taplin (Prince, Ghost-Note) and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Warren Ham (Ringo Starr). As you can see this is a strong line-up and is the fifteenth incarnation of Toto.
Steve Lukather said in a press release, that they only wanted the best people to honor the music of Toto. There is also a documentary available that shows the recording of the album "With A Little Help From My Friends" and also some memories and comments from band members about not being able to play.
