The College of St. Scholastica announced via press release their plans for the 32nd Annual Twin Ports Region Thanksgiving Day Buffet. Due to COVID-19 precautions, they have decided to once again not have the dinner served at the DECC but to have it delivered to homebound residents and at satellite locations like last year. Although this is a massive undertaking everyone involved knows the importance of providing meals for people who might otherwise go without.

As usual all the meals are free thanks to the generosity of The College of St. Scholastica, donors, and community supporters. All the meals will be fully cooked and in individual serving containers. This would not be possible without hundreds of  volunteers in our community who will prepare and deliver approximately 5,000 meals the week of Thanksgiving. This traditional Thanksgiving meal will come with all of the trimmings, including roasted turkey, potatoes, gravy, stuffing, corn, dinner rolls and dessert.

Their are two different ways in order for you and your family to get the free meal:

For Homebound Individuals:

For those who are homebound in the Twin Ports Region (Duluth/Superior, Two Harbors, Hermantown, Esko and Cloquet areas), you can request a meal for yourself as well as your caregiver. Individuals who need a meal delivered to their home must call (218) 723-6484 to reserve their meal. Requests must be received by noon on Friday, November 19. Due to the volume of requests, they ask that only those that are truly homebound request a meal. Their teams will deliver approximately 1,600 meals on Thanksgiving morning.

Satellite Pick-Up Meals:

Arrangements have also been made for meals to be pick up in designated locations on Thanksgiving Day. These meals are for anyone in our community who is in need. They will will be using an honor system and  ask that individuals and families only take what is needed for their Thanksgiving Day meal.

The meals will be distributed in 6 area satellite locations on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.:

  • Duluth Harbor Mission (2910 W. 3rd St. Duluth, MN 55806)
  • Volunteer Services of Carlton County (199 Chestnut Ave, Carlton, MN 55718)
  • Mission Creek Church (521 131st Ave. W. Duluth, MN 55808)
  • First United Methodist Church (230 E. Skyline Parkway, Duluth MN 55811)
  • Peace in Christ Church (5007 Maple Grove Road, Hermantown MN 55811)

If you are interested in volunteering you can go to www.css.edu/thanksgiving to register for open positions and for more information. Thank you to everyone involved from St. Scholastica to all the volunteers and donors who make this possible each and every year.
