Team USA men's curling has had a great year. They won a bronze medal by defeating Japan in the 2016 World Men's Curling Championships, which earned them points to qualify for the Olympics in 2018. It was the first time since 2006 they earned a medal. USA men's curling team was given Athletes of the Year and Team of the Year awards for 2016.

According to Team USA Curling, John Shuster the skip for the team from Northen Minnnesota, and his team ofTyler George, Matt Hamilton, and John Landsteiner finished the season ranked No. 14 on the World Curling Tour Order of Merit. That competitive season included three event titles and five additional playoff appearances. The team, coached by Phill Drobnick, would also capture the 2016 WFG Continental Cup title in January..
