Superior Veterans Receive Housing Vouchers
Making sure that homeless veterans have a place to call "home" will be a little easier in Superior. City officials recently announced that they have received five vouchers from the Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH).
According to news sources, under the program, qualifying homeless veterans can utilize the Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing's "long-term case management supportive services and permanent housing support for chronically homeless veterans". That program provides the necessary funding to make the system work.
Each year, VASH provides more than 10,000 vouchers nationwide; more than 97,500 were awarded since 2008. The selection process for the vouchers is based on strict qualifying equations set forth by VASH - taking into account which parts of the country have the highest number of vulnerable homeless Veterans, partnering them with available VA facilities in those communities.
