They say the more you know about a subject the better you are at dealing with it.  This is especially true when it comes to teen substance abuse.  That's the driving force behind an event scheduled by the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.

The event - called A Night To Know The Truth -  has been planned for Wednesday, November 13 at the Cherry School.  From 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, community leaders, parents, and other concerned adults will meet to learn more about prescription drug abuse.  According to information provided by the organizers, 72% of people who misuse prescription pills take them from friends or family.  And the abuse is starting at an earlier age than you might think.

The A Night To Know The Truth is free to attend.  The evening will begin with a community dinner and interactive resource fair at 5:00, followed by the presentation starting at 6:00, and a question and answer panel to follow at 7:30.   In addition, members of the community are invited to bring their unwanted and unused prescription medications with them to be disposed of properly.

The Cherry School is located at 9343 Tamminen Road in Iron.
