Restricted Crossing U-Turn Coming To Highway 53 In Douglas County

Drivers near Bennett Wisconsin will have a different sort of intersection to navigate in the summer of 2018.  Douglas County Highway officials have announced that a Restricted U-Turn intersection will be placed where County Highway L crosses U.S. Highway 53.  Work is expected to be wrapped up in July.

The Restricted U-Turn or R-Cut intersection works to safely restrict direct cross-traffic at busy highway intersections - especially those that are divided two-lanes.  At the L and 53 intersection, single-lane L moves east-west across the 2-lane, divided 53;  the new setup will allow for safer crossings.

Ahead of the project, officials with the Douglas County Highway Department are alerting drivers to the change on social media, and offering tips on how to navigate the new intersection.
