Pattison State Park Kicks Off 100 Year Celebration, January 25
A popular state park just south of Superior is getting ready to celebrate their centennial! The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources along with the Friends of Pattison and Amnicon Falls State Parks invites the general public to come join them for Winterfest - Saturday, January 25 on the grounds of Pattison State Park. The afternoon event promises fun activities for the entire family - running from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Organizers have planned a full slate of outdoor activities for the celebration. Attendees can count on taking advantage of the sledding hill and a candlelight hike/ski. They'll also have chili to enjoy, along with hot chocolate and coffee.
A formal dedication is planned at the beginning of the event - right at 3:00 PM. A variety of guest speakers is also on the schedule.
There isn't a cost to attend Winterfest, but you will need a current/valid Wisconsin State Park vehicle sticker to get on the grounds.
As the centennial celebration suggests, Pattison State Park first opened its doors in 1920. The park is home to many attractions - including 9 miles of hiking trails, 59 camp sites, a sand beach lake, and the star attractions - two waterfalls - one of which (Big Manitou Falls) is the highest waterfall in the State of Wisconsin at 165 feet.
