The Minnesota Vikings extended coach Mike Zimmer's contract yesterday, this is a sign the team is happy with the way he is doing his job. Last year the team went 11-5 and made it to the playoffs, losing to Seattle in a game that looked like they had it won.

Zimmer is a coach that doesn't smile much and has a no-nonsense approach to his style. The team is happy with the direction and has even let him bring in some of his old guys from the Bengals, where Mike Zimmer was the defensive coach.

Many believe the next couple of years could be the time for the team to make it to the championship, and that Zimmer's approach is going to do it. The terms of the deal were not announced.
