Minnesota Highway 37 Roundabout Project Starts June 20

Work crews with the Minnesota Department of Transportation are getting ready to start a project that will impact many drivers who take the "Iron Range Shortcut".  June 20 is the date that work will commence on Highway 37 as project engineers install a roundabout at the Intersection where 37 intersects with St. Louis County Road 7 in Iron Junction.

Ahead of that roundabout project start date, MNDOT will hold a public meeting to distribute details about the work, answer questions, and gather comments. That meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 2, 5:00 PM at the Clinton Town Hall:  8907 Highway 37.

The meeting will happen in-person, however a virtual option will be made available for those who wish to participate in that manner.  The Minnesota Department of Transportation has provided a link on their website for those who want to take advantage of the virtual meeting, with a recording of the session available afterwards.

MNDOT is installing a roundabout at the intersection of Highway 37 and County Road 7 to improve safety.  The agency conducted an Intersection Control Evaluation Study a while back and determined that a roundabout would be the best way to alleviate many of the safety concerns inherent at that intersection.

There doesn't appear to be a detour necessary for drivers traveling east-west along Highway 37, although they should anticipate delays.

While all outdoor road construction projects are at the mercy of various conditions like the weather and unforeseen circumstances, the Minnesota Department of Transportation expects the roundabout project on Highway 37 to be completed in October of this year.
