Children grow so fast, sometimes you think you can make that bike helmet last, but it's not safe to fit a child with a bike helmet that doesn't fit them right. There will be people on hand in the Kohl's parking lot to correctly fit the kids June 21st, and if your child needs a helmet the folks from  Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Children’s Hospital and Kohl’s Cares will be handing them out for free as long as they last.

Surprisingly Minnesota and Wisconsin don't have helmet laws for kids yet. That doesn't mean you shouldn't outfit your children with a bike helmet. It will protect them in a big crash and a small crash.

Bike helmets can be used in a variety of ways, not just bikes. I see a lot of kids using it for skateboards, scooters, and roller blades/skates.

Approximately 1,500 free bike helmets will be handed out for free within an hour and a half in the parking lot of Kohl’s, 2115 Miller Trunk Highway in Duluth on Tuesday, June 21 from 4-5:30 pm.  Attendance to this event is usually epic, but before you stand in line, you should be aware that your child/children need to be present for proper fitting.  They also have a free shuttle that will be available from 3:30-6 pm from the Hobby Lobby parking lot, 1734 Mall Drive.
