Hawaii was the first state outlawing smoking for anyone under 2,1 California has hopped on board as well,

Do I believe that the 21 and under law will make an effect on smoking? Not to the extent that I think legislators do. I remember being able to get cigarettes and booze, yes it was hard but it did happen. Now raising the price and taxes on such items is more of a deterrent. I could get a case of Old Milwaukee for under 5 bucks back in the day, but if it was over 10 bucks it would not have happened. Unfortunately my son smokes and he started at a very young age to my surprise. Where did he get them? Not from me, I didn’t smoke.

With this new Hawaiian law, there is no grandfather clause so an 18-year-old who could smoke legally right now will not be able to legally on January 1st when the law takes effect. After the law takes effect, the first offense is subject to $10 fine and then up to $50 for each time again caught smoking.

Am I bothered by this new law if it came here? Nope I’m a non-smoker.
