A road construction project on Wisconsin State Highway 105 took some people by surprise.  Drivers who took the route to work or home in the morning were greeted with a different road surface in the afternoon.  Workers with Douglas County were busy flooding the highway with loose gravel in advance of chip seal work.

According the the Douglas County Highway Facebook page, the project is expected to wrap up by the end of the week.

Tuesday's work should see the excess chips swept off the roadway.  By Thursday, the oil will be applied and the center line should be re-painted by the time the work is done on Friday.

In advance of the work, crews also fixed two "dips" in the road - including the notorious low and rough spot that falls about mid-way between Oliver and South Superior.
