Garfield Ramp To 535 Closing August 19

The lead-up work around the eventual Can of Worms replacement project continues this summer.  Officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation are alerting drivers that there will be a ramp closure coming up on Monday, August 19.

In order to allow drilling and surveying crews a chance to perform prep work at the site, the ramp from Garfield Avenue to westbound Highway 535 will close from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on August 19.  A detour will be in place for drivers, directing them onto westbound Garfield Avenue.

The eventual Can of Works rebuild is scheduled to get underway during next summers road construction season - with a targeted completion date of 2023.

Recently, MNDOT released composite maps, diagrams, and a simulated drive-through video of what the eventual rebuild will look like once it's done.  The major take-away from the project is that once it's done, all on and off-ramps will be on the right-hand side of the roadways - a redesign that will help make the intersection safer.
