Duluth Area Weather May Be Miserable, But Check Out Bismarck, North Dakota!
Needless to say, the weather in the Duluth area has been absolutely miserable since Tuesday and it certainly doesn't feel like spring whatsoever.
Within the last 12 hours, thousands in the Northland lost power due to the weather, myself included. In southern Minnesota, winds were so strong Tuesday that 9 semis were literally blown over in Interstate 35.
As bad as it's been, and it doesn't appear to be letting up anytime soon, the grass isn't always greener on the other side. In fact, in Bismarck, North Dakota, they can't even see grass anymore as this storm front has brought them snow. A lot of snow.
Ahead of this storm, there were predictions that the Bismarck area might receive up to two feet of snow and it appears they were right.
As you scroll through social media, you can see a lot what is happening in that area from both individuals living in the area and their local media and agencies, such as the National Weather Service.
A Snow Emergency actually went into effect Tuesday night as no travel is recommended throughout that area on Wednesday.
Now, imagine waking up to this on Wednesday morning in the Northland. This video looks like it was shot in December. But, no, it's springtime in North Dakota.
As you listen to the wind howl in the Northland, perhaps even by candlelight depending on how our situation plays out, take a look through more of what is going on is going on in Bismarck. Perhaps, we got lucky afterall?
Unfortunately for the fine people in that area, it doesn't look like relief is coming very soon as the National Weather Service in Bismarck is predicting significant additional snowfall through Thursday.
The Northland won't be completely spared from snowfall with this storm, our media partners at WDIO-TV are predicting us to get a small taste by comparison.

Cloudy and windy at times with periods of rain. Temps nearly steady in the mid to upper 30s. ENE winds at 25 to 35 mph, decreasing to 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 90%. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch. Higher wind gusts possible.
Wednesday Night
Rain and snow showers this evening. Overcast overnight. Low 28F. Winds WSW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of precip 60%.
Thursday
Becoming windy with snow showers. High 35F. Winds SW at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of snow 50%. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.
