Organizers with the City of Duluth and the Greater Downtown Council are inviting everyone to a special kick-off event to celebrate work commencing on the second phase of the reconstruction project for Superior Street. The event will happen on Monday April 8, 1:00 PM in front of the Technology Village between Lake Avenue and First Street east.

As work resumes on Superior Street for another construction season, city leaders will gather together to help focus on the project.  On hand for the kick off event will be the key partners in the project:  Northland Contractors, Kristi Stokes from the Greater Downtown Council,. and Duluth Mayor Emily Larson.

Crews will spend the summer of 2019 working from east of Lake Avenue to west of 4th Street east.  The initial work started last summer and the entire project is expected to be wrapped up at the end of the 2020 summer road construction season.  When complete, Superior Street will see improved utilities, a energy-efficient closed-loop hot water heat system, and plenty of other streetscape amenities that will increase the ease and safety of pedestrian traffic.
