It's official:  Two different management companies will oversee the operations at the Douglas County fairgrounds in Superior.  At their meeting on June 18, the Douglas County Board voted to split the operations - with one management company in charge of the speedway and another management company in charge of everything else - including the fairgrounds.

According to news sources, the lead at the speedway will not change.  Head Of The Lakes Management Group LLP - which has been in charge of both sides of operations - will continue to oversee the speedway.  A new company will take over the reins of the rest of the fairgrounds.

That new management company comes with familiar faces.  Daniel Litchke and Dustin Soyring will manage the fair under the company name DHL Management.  Both Litchke and Soyring have a history with the fair and the fairgrounds as they come from farming families that have entered and showed animals in the past.  In their new roles, DHL Management will now be solely in charge of the multipurpose building, the fair office building, garages, barns, animal arenas, and general maintenance on the grounds and buildings.

Meanwhile, a final decision on the Head Of The Lakes Fair this summer is still up in the air.  Fair officials have suggested that a 2020 fair event would only come after working closely with the Douglas County Health Department.  The event would also probably involve attendance controls of some kind in order to assure social-distancing and other COVID-19 health precautions.
