This one might hurt a little bit. Aaron Rodgers will not be living out his lifelong dream of becoming the host of Jeopardy! Sigh.

Several big name celebrities have been temporarily hosting the show since Alex Trebek passed away. He passed away in November of 2020 at the age of eighty from pancreatic cancer.

In January, Aaron Rodgers was announced as a temporary replacement for the icon. This was a huge dream for the Green Bay Packer, who at the time said that Trebek was his idol growing up. Basically, it was a huge full circle moment for the football star.

In April, when his guest hosting stint began, he hopped on Instagram with his new wife-to-be and talked about his experience on Jeopardy! The whole thing was hosted by Shailene Woodley as the two snuggled on the couch and acted all cute. You can tell in the video how much Aaron loved hosting the show.

His time guest hosting the show often made headlines. At one point, a question from the show went viral. The answer to the question was the Green Bay Packers and none of the guests knew it, leaving Aaron to sigh and have a hilarious reaction. In case you missed it, you can catch it below. Hilarious!

After all was said and done, the public had kind words to say about his time as guest host and the show even saw a nice ratings spike! In April, reports said that Jeopardy! ratings spiked fourteen percent over the course of the two weeks he was hosting. At the time, that was the highest ratings period for any guest host.

This was promising for him, as he said in multiple interviews that he would love to become the permanent host. Even though he has a taxing gig as a football star, he said he could make it work on his off days. Now, it looks like his dreams of becoming a tv host are gone for now.

About a week ago, reports started floating around the internet that Mike Richards was at the top of the list to replace Alex Trebek. He has experience hosting game shows and was supposedly in advanced negotiations with the show to take over hosting duty, meaning Aaron was pretty much out of the running. Many fans still held out hope, however.

Now, it looks like those hopes have been crushed altogether. On Wednesday (August 11th), it was announced that the show will have two hosts: Mike and actress Mayim Bialik. Both were guest hosts on the show since Alex's passing. Mike will host the main show while Mayim hosts a spinoff series.

While this is probably a big bummer for Aaron, he has a lot going on. Earlier this year, he got engaged to actress Shailene Woodley. Nobody even knew that he was dating someone at the time he shocked the world with the news. In case you didn't know, he announced the news on national television while accepting an award at the NFL Honors.

Since then, the two of them have been traveling the world and being all cute. He has also had a very public feud with the Green Bay Packers, which was pretty much confirmed when his fiancé retweeted a very telling tweet from a commentator on ESPN.

Aaron hasn't said anything about not being picked as the host of Jeopardy! and maybe he never will. He has enough going for him that we think he will be okay but it is still a bummer for fans of the Green Bay Packers.
