Duluth Denfeld Graduate To Compete On Hell’s Kitchen Spinoff
Gordon Ramsey would have anyone shaking in their boots but one Duluth native is up for the challenge.
A Denfeld graduate will be featured on an upcoming season of Hell's Kitchen: Young Guns! The episode will feature Matthew Francis Johnson and will premiere on Monday, May 31st.
The Duluth News Tribune spoke to the chef, who said that while he can't say too much about the show before it premieres, he did get insulted by famous chef Gordon Ramsey, who hosts the show. Ha!
The DNT also reports that the show was filmed in Las Vegas and features chefs who are twenty-three years old or younger. For the record, Johnson doesn't live here at the moment and instead calls Maryland home, where he is also a chef.
The Northland native also shared his excitement about being on the upcoming season on his Facebook page, writing that he was incredibly nervous while posing for the show photo and joking that he was silly to take part in such an intense competition.
If you aren't familiar with how the show works, it features the same format as Hell's Kitchen but this time around, features younger chefs. Hell's Kitchen is a reality competition which features chefs fighting for the coveted job of head chef at a restaurant.
Each episode has different competitions the chefs must take part in and one by one, all chefs are eliminated until it is down to one.
FOX 21 reports that Johnson graduated from Duluth Denfeld in 2013 and then graduated culinary school in 2016. The show was filmed a few years later in 2019 and is officially airing at the end of this month.
So what has he been up to all this time? He can't say right now but we should know soon enough. In the meantime, we know who we are rooting for!
