Dangerous Swimming Conditions Today, Red Flag
There are cold winds, creating high waves and a RED FLAG WARNING for Today September 18th.
The Duluth Fire Department is issuing a warning for dangerous swimming conditions with rip tides for Park Point beaches effective immediately and continuing until 10:00 a.m. tomorrow. This warning means that wind and wave conditions can support rip currents. Rip currents are life-threatening to anyone entering the water. Stay out of the water regardless of your swimming experience. There is not a lifeguard on duty so it becomes twice as dangerous.
There are currently no lifeguards at ParkPoint, and red flags are flying along the beach to indicate the dangerous swimming condition.
Flag locations are South Pier, 12th St beach, Lafayette Square, and Park Point beach. You will be notified if swimming conditions improve before this warning expires.
