Twin Ports drivers who have had to battle their commute with only the Blatnik Bridge as an option are about to see even more congestion and delays.

The annual bridge inspection for the Blatnik Bridge will reduce the river-crossing span to single lanes July 6 - July 16.

Officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation suggest that the work will occur between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM Monday through Thursday of those dates, with all lanes open for the morning and evening peak travel times.

It's been a tough five years or so for drivers that cross between Duluth and Superior on a daily basis.  The past few summers have seen closures and lane restrictions for the majority of the summer months on both bridges.

The Bong Bridge is expected to reopen to Superior-bound traffic in November.
