Drivers in northern Minnesota will probably notice an increase in bicyclists sharing the road the next few days as the annual Bicycling Around Minnesota event happens, August 15 through August 18. Officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation estimate that approximately 300 people will take part in the ride.
The event begins and ends in St. Joseph. Riders will travel approximately 60 to 70 miles each day, with a route that takes them through Sauk Center, Spicer, and Hutchinson - utilizing several state highways, local routes, and bicycle paths.

- Both must obey all traffic control signs and signals.
- Bicyclists should signal their turns and ride in a predictable manner.
- They must use a headlight and rear reflectors when it’s dark.
- Motorists must maintain a 3-foot clearance at all times when passing a bicyclist. It’s the law.
