UPDATE: Missing Ashland Teen Is Safe

UPDATE: According to the Ashland Daily Press, the teen has told her family that "she is safe and intends to come home" after being reported missing. The report says that foul play is not suspected and the teen is not in danger. 

The Ashland County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a missing teen. They asked for the public's help in the evening hours of Wednesday night (December 8th) via their Facebook page.

While Ashland is over an hour drive away from the Twin Ports, this is important for all Northland residents to take in as the Ashland County Sheriff's Office says she may be headed to our area. They have reason to believe she may be headed to the Twin Ports area, although they did not go into detail.

The Ashland County Sheriff's Office shared information regarding the missing teen, whose name is Malea Rembert. She is fourteen years old and as mentioned, may be headed here at the time of writing.

Malea was last seen in the areas of Ashland and Odanah. The date at which she was last seen was not given but the press release says the last time she had contact with anyone was on Friday, December 3rd.

Malea was last seen wearing a sweatshirt and jeans. She is a Native American female with brown hair and brown eyes. She stands at five feet and five inches tall. She also has a nose ring and a tattoo on her wrist, which may help you identify her.

If you have any information on Malea Rembert or her whereabouts, you are asked to call the Ashland County Sheriff's Office. You can do so at 715-682-7023. Hit "option one" when prompted.

The Ashland County Sheriff's Office did not go into detail about why she may be headed to the Twin Ports or if she may be with anyone. Please help spread the word so that she can be identified should she be in the Twin Ports.
