Aaron Rodgers To Appear (And Be Killed) On Game Of Thrones This Weekend? It Sounds That Way
We are now two episodes away from the end of one of the biggest shows in television history, when we will learn who will sit on the Iron Throne at the end of Game of Thrones. Speculation is growing that one of the biggest names in the NFL (scoff, if you're a Vikings fan) might be making an appearance on the show.
Rodgers is a fan of the show, and first hinted at a possibility of being on GoT back in February during an interview on the Dan Patrick Show.
In the interview (below), he played coy when asked if he had been approached to be on the show. Patrick doubled-down, and asked what sort of scene Rodgers would like to be in, and he answered "I definitely want to be killed, or in one of the steamy scenes for sure". He went on to answer questions about whether or not he'd do a nude scene in that interview.
Next, Rodgers tweeted on April 21 about the show and used a hashtag #eipsode5shouldbegood, which doesn't necessarily mean a lot - until you see what he said in an interview at the Kentucky Derby.
In that interview, Rodgers was asked about the likelihood of making a TV or movie cameo. The interviewer referred to LeBron James getting into the TV and movie world, and Rodgers simply replied (as seen below) "Episode 5, Game of Thrones", before walking away.
While none of this is concrete evidence, it certainly points to a very real chance #12 makes an appearance on this weekend's episode of the show.
The next question is, who does he play? Does he get his wish of either being killed, or being in a "steamy" scene? Of the two, it seems much more likely that Rodgers gets killed off, as "steamy" scenes are generally reserved for bigger characters. It's highly unlikely we get introduced to a new love (or physical love) interest with so little time left in the show.
As far as who he plays; the running theory around the radio station is that Rodgers plays a member of the Golden Company, Cersei's hired army. If that is indeed the case, it would put Rodgers in a good spot to be killed by vengeful Daenerys, her army, or by a dragon.
With Rodgers taunting fans of other NFC North teams in an HBO video from back in December as "the true King of the North" (pretty sure the Bears and Vikings both had better records last season), Vikings, Bears, and Lions fans are probably thirsty for some cinematic Rodgers blood.
So, with that said, what do you think is the most fitting death for Rodgers if he appears on Game of Thrones?
