If you had to compile a list of states that most presidential appointees come from, Minnesota probably wouldn't bubble to the top;  while it's true we've had the occasional Vice President (Hubert Humphrey and Walter Mondale), the Gopher state doesn't seem to hold the political clout that a Texas or New York might.  But, it looks like we'll be able to add to the list soon.

Included in a list of new appointments by President Donald Trump is Stephen Parente who currently serves as the Minnesota Insurance Industry Chair of Health Finance in Carlson School of Management and the Director of the Medical Industry Leadership Institute at the University of Minnesota.  Parente would serve the Trump administration as the Assistant Secretary of Health and Human Services, Planning and Evaluation.
