Youngblood has been around since 1957 with the orginal recording being credited to Carl Gardner's Coasters. It charted well for the Coasters (#8), but more importantly #414 on Rolling Stones lsit of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Although the song has been covered by several artists, this version remains my favorite cut, probably because it sounds dirtier than it really is. Sound is everything right?

If you get a chance, rent The Concert For Bangladesh. Leon Russell sings the song in the concert. In 1976 Bad Company also charted with Youngblood (#20 in the Top 40). It's rumored the Grateful Dead have a Youngblood track laying around somewhere as well.
