After selling it's proprietary brand name, Liz Claiborne Inc is changing their corporate name as well.

Liz Claiborne Inc. changed its name to Fifth & Pacific Cos. to reflect the sale of its namesake brand and focus on lines including Juicy Couture and Kate Spade.

The official name change will come this spring, following the divestiture.

The change is effective May 15, when the company will start trading under the ticker FNP, according to a statement Wednesday. The New York retailer sold Liz Claiborne, created in 1976 for dressing women at work, Monet and other brands to J.C. Penney Co. last year.
