The biggest satellite provider in America, DirecTV has dropped the Weather Channel from it's lineup effective today. While Weather Channel executives say it's a must have for all families, DirecTV's response is that weather information is readily available everywhere, and it's customers should not have to pay a premium for it.

DirecTV and Weather Channel execs are hoping they can find a way to agree on new terms, but in case that doesn't happen in the near future, they have  replaced the Weather Channel with WeatherNation. While the Weather Channel devotes 40% of it's programming to reality shows, WeatherNation is 24/7 weather, and is perceived to be a better bargain for it's consumers.
