Two favorites from your childhood could be gone forever as the company that makes them gets ready to surrender to a strike that's held up operations for the past three months.  Hostess Foods says that if an agreement wasn't reached by the evening of November 15th, they would be forced to shut down operations and liquidate the company, resulting in the loss of 18,000 jobs.

The company, which was on the cusp of moving forward with a reorganization plan when work stoppages hamstrung about two-thirds of its 36 plants, said it can't continue operating unless members of the Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers Union return to work.

"We simply do not have the financial resources to survive an ongoing national strike," Chief Executive Gregory F. Rayburn said in a statement Wednesday.

Financial woes are not new to the company.  Hostess has warned all through the strike that worker shortages and stoppages would cripple the company to the point of liquidation.

Based in Irving, Texas - Hostess bakes and distributes bakery products that are familiar to every child - including Twinkies, Wonder Bread, Dolly Madison cakes, and Nature's Pride.
