Ten-Year Lithium-Battery Smoke Detectors To Be Distributed For Free In January

A program to distribute free smoke detectors will start on January 2, 2013 - according to the Northland Chapter of the American Red Cross.  A generous donation by Arcelor-Mittal will provide 100 Kidde smoke detectors that are equipped with 10-year sealed lithium batteries, available on a first come-first served basis.

Northland Chapter Of The American Red Cross To Hold Babysitter Boot Camps For Northland Kids

Thanks to a generous gift from the Arcelor-Mittal-Minorca mining company, Iron Range youngsters will get a big break on Red Cross Babysitter Training.  A $7,500 grant will underwrite the entire registration fee for what is being called Babysitter Boot Camp.
