I had the pleasure of Talking with Duluth Mayor Don Ness, He was kind enough to call into the morning show and talk about the state of Duluth on Thursday.  I just want to personally thank the Mayor, he could have said he was too busy and I would have understood, but he made the time to call in and talk. Duluth Mayor Don Ness earlier today declared a state of emergency, requesting assistance from state and federal authorities in clean up and rescue efforts as a result of the extreme rainfall totals in the past 24 hours. Governor Mark Dayton issued a response as well, offering the following thoughts on the deviating rainfall:

With this mornings storms and the ones to follow, police have advised people not to travel. Streets are washed out and if there is standing water there could be hidden sink holes. Mayor Don Ness declared a state of emergency on his facebook page.
