When Does The Bong Bridge Close? Project Starts March 31 But Detour Delayed Until May [Update]

An update on the two year Bong Bridge project that starts on Monday, March 31;  The east-bound/Duluth-bound detour that was scheduled at the beginning has been delayed until May.

The project itself will still commence on March 31 - but drivers will still be able to get to Duluth on the Bong Bridge, albeit with reduced and single-lanes.

City of Superior Gets Ready For Four Years Of Heavy Road Construction

Bong Bridge To See Work; First Roundabout Exit In The Twin Ports

One of the two main bridges in the Twin Ports is about to see some dramatic upgrading;  When it returns to full capacity, it will also usher in the first roundabout in the Duluth-Superior area.
A roundabout is an interstate-style circular road that will get traffic off the Bong Bridge without using stoplights or stop signs
