St. Louis County crews will begin work on a "Super Sidewalk" - a first for the area - on Monday, July 18.  The 8-foot-wide asphalt route will run along a 1.7 mile stretch of Rice Lake Road - originating near Central Entrance and Marshall School.

The path was designed to make it easier for pedestrians and bicyclists along the stretch that sees considerable traffic.  Plans are for the "Super Sidewalk" to eventually connect to area trails that route through the college campuses eventually ending up at the Lakewalk.

Total cost for the project is $1.1 million with funds coming from federal funds and transportation sales tax revenue.

Target date for completion is mid-October.
