With two best-selling cookbooks to her credit, country singer Trisha Yearwood is no stranger to the kitchen.  Now it appears that she is about to expand on that fan base.

The best-selling author of two cookbooks has inked a deal to star in a six-episode daytime cooking show for the Food Network, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.

The show won't necessarily be a "series" - in the sense that Food Network has only ordered six "special" episodes.

In the as-yet-untitled series, Yearwood will share food traditions and display her Southern hospitality, sharing recipes with friends and family and preparing Sunday dinners to planning family reunion barbecues. Each of the six themed episodes will invite viewers into Yearwood's kitchen for her favorite meals and family stories.

Yearwood is excited to try her hand at this new aspect of her career.

"I'm so grateful to Food Network for the opportunity to share my family's favorite recipes and precious memories in this show," Yearwood said. "I'm having so much fun, it's a very special experience."

For what it's worth:  I have both of her cookbooks and have tried many of the recipes in them.  If the show is anything like what's between those pages -- we're in for some good eating!
