In late 2006, James had developed a cough and wasn't feeling quite up to par. Having an iron will, he continued to make appearances even though those close to him were becoming concerned.

While at a routine dentist appointment, the James was diagnosed with pneumonia. He was admitted to the hospital but died of heart failure shortly after,on Christmas Day.
