Rolling Stones Update Logo for 50th Anniversary
With less than three weeks remaining until the official 50th anniversary of the Rolling Stones‘ first concert, the band has revealed a new version of their classic logo.
The classic lips design was updated by Shepard Fairey to reflect the milestone. It was revealed at the band’s official website on Tuesday.
John Pasche designed the original logo in 1971, nine years after the band took the stage at the Marquee Club in London. July 12, 1962 was the Rolling Stones’ first gig, and to celebrate the milestone they’re allowing a photographic exhibition to open for free to the public at the Somerset House in London from July 13 to Aug. 27, 2012.
There is also a documentary in the works, and a book called ‘The Rolling Stones: 50‘ that will be available on July 12. Rolling Stone reports that the band may try to squeeze one concert into their 2012 schedule, but a larger run of dates isn’t going to happen until at least 2013. They are gathering to discuss future plans this summer.
