Highway 53 Resurfacing To Begin July 20; Project Will Affect Iron Range Drivers Near Cook

The summer road construction season is in full swing and the Minnesota Department of Transportation has a full slate of projects to complete.  One of those projects starts on Monday, July 20.

Motorists traveling on Highway 53 from south of County Road 540 to County Road 517 may encounter intermittent single lane and shoulder closures as a highway resurfacing, bypass, turn and passing lanes project gets underway. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers. Delays should not exceed 15 minutes.

The project, scheduled to be completed in early-September 2015, will provide a safer, smoother ride for motorists.
