Officials with the Duluth Children's Museum will honor former CEO Michael Garcia with a surprise boat-christening at the permanent Ore Boat & Aerial Lift Bridge play-structure and exhibit on site.  After the ceremony the ship will be known as the "M. Garcia".

The large-scale structure features half of the bridge and half of an ore boat coming through the channel beneath it.  To accommodate the play-nature of the structure, it includes a slide, tunnels and stationary binoculars on the deck of the boat.

The ceremony will happen on Friday, June 10 at 4:00 PM on the second floor of the Children's Museum:  115 S 29th Avenue West.  Refreshments and cookies will be provided by the Exchange Bakery.  The event will be available to those visitors with their paid daily admission or free for members of the museum.
