CHUM invites you to help out food shelf programs by "Scouting For Food" this Saturday. The SHARE Food Drive takes place from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at area grocery stores. It's a great way to help out people in your community that need it. Scouts will hand shoppers a list of items most needed by food shelves then you can purchase them and leave them with a volunteer on your way out of the store.

This is an easy way to donate to families that need the help while you are shopping for your family. There are a lot of families in our community that are right on the line of needing that help and with some programs that allows them to get what they need, now the food shelf needs your help. The thing is, in some families the parents are skipping meals in order to pay bills and not let their kids go hungry.

The SHARE Food Drive will take place at area grocery stores including:

Super One Foods in Duluth and Cloquet,

Mount Royal Fine Foods,

Cub Foods,

Whole Foods Coop, and

Cloquet Walmart.

People unable to shop on the 25th, can leave non-perishable items at the grocery store food donation barrel or bring items directly to these food shelf addresses: 120 N. 1st Ave. W. and 4831 Grand Ave. Super One shoppers can give at the register any day between October 11th and 31st.

Food received during the SHARE Food Drive is distributed through CHUM’s Duluth Emergency Food Shelf, the Salvation Army in Duluth and Cloquet, and the Hermantown Food Shelf. Each month these food shelves distribute more than 60,000 pounds of food to 1,100 households.

They are still looking for a few volunteers, if you have time contact Meg Kearns at 727-2391 or megkearns@chumduluth.org.
