Caribou Debuts Clear Coffee As April Fools Day Prank [Updated]

Thinkstock

Did you fall for it?  The day before April Fool’s Day – social media was abuzz with stories and talk about a new coffee variety that Caribou Coffee was getting ready to debut on April 1.

The company announced that they were debuting Clear Coffee – a product that tastes like coffee and has all of it’s usual caffinated-perks – only, it’s clear – without the usual coffee/brown color.  The story quickly made it’s way around the web – from Facebook to Twitter – even Yahoo Finance.

But it’s a prank – an April Fool’s Day joke.

I guess what surprised me the most was the large number of news media sources that took the prank as truth and passed the story along to their readers.

Did they get you?
