Breanne Marie is a local singer/songwriter who has recorded and produced her debut album titled “Six Strings of Peace & Sanity.” In April, she launched a project on Kickstarter.com with a goal of $3,200. By the deadline of May 11th, she had surpassed that goal with over $3,600 from 100 backers.

Kickstarter.com is a Web site where artists can post information on a project that is ready to complete but lacking the funds to get it up and running. After several months of writing, recording and producing the album is ready to be released with a live show this Saturday, January 5th, 2013.

Breanne Marie first learned to play guitar in 2007 to cope with loss of her father in 2006. Then, in 2009, Breanne’s brother Timothy Schlies and his best friend Hans Warren were killed in a car accident. She poured herself deeper into music playing a couple of shows a week around the Twin Ports. She has played music at many assisted living facilities and also at funerals. Explaining her emotional commitment to her music, Breanne shared that, “Music is healing, not just for me but for those who hear my music.”

After two years of live performances, Breanne started writing her own songs and has now developed enough material to record her debut album. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered locally at with Eric Swanson of Sacred Heart Studios. Musicians on the album, whom Breanne calls her “Front Porch Sinners”, are Evan Tepler, Mark Glen, Amy Ugstad, Tim Cheesebrow, Matt Sjelin and Matt Leibfried on guitar, bass/piano, drums, mandolin/guitar and trumpet respectively. Breanne boasts about the contributions of her fellow musicians. “The songs come to life with these very talented artists from the mandolin solo on ‘Good Bad Man’ to the surprising piano lines in ‘What Does It Take?’ and the trumpet in ‘Country Song’. I am so lucky to work with these musicians!”

The show starts at 7pm at Beaners Central in West Duluth. The show will open with Hannah McDaniel a local singer/songwriter and Music Resource Center student. Music Resource Center is an after school program for area teens to learn all aspects of the music industry from writing and performing to recording and promoting. Breanne has been a volunteer with the MRC program for 2 years. At 8pm Breanne Marie & the Front Porch Sinners will take the stage playing music from the new album. $10 cover charge at the door and you get the new CD for free.
