Rayman

I've been in Twin Ports radio close to twenty years. I started in November of 1995 on talk radio WEBC AM 560. I joined the Kool 101.7 staff in 1998 and became the Afternoon Drive personality in 2001. In 2005 I was honored to receive a LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD by the MINNESOTA ROCK AND COUNTRY HALL OF FAME, now the MID AMERICA MUSIC HALL OF FAME. I was born in Cleveland ohio and raised in Duluth. Although I've traveled to all but two of the fifty states, and lived in ten of them, I'm proud to call the Northland my home. Thank you for sharing part of your afternoon with me on Kool 101.7 over the years.

Rockers You Hear on Kool 101.7 Who All Died at Age 27 [GALLERY]

A couple weeks ago, I was talking to Fito de la Parra of Canned Heat, and one of the things we discussed the number of musicians who died at age 27 (Alan Wilson of Canned Heat being one of them.) While neither Fito nor myself are believers in the occult, I must admit it is a strange coincidence isn't it?  I've put together a list of rockers you hear on Kool 101.7 who died at 27, and their cause of death.

What’s Your Guess on Weather This Winter?

It looks like an early fall, at least around my home, and that led me to wonder about the approaching winter season. I spoke with  a meterologist, and asked. The response was basically it's a fight between El Nino and El Nina. Whoever wins, determines the winter weather.

Rayman’s Song of the Day-Turn the Beat Around by Vicki Sue Robinson [VIDEO]

This was Robinson's only hit. She performed on Broadway prior to recording the song and later mounted a successful off-Broadway one woman show. She also sang in commercials, including the "We're All Connected" spot for New York Telephone, and did background vocals on the hit Fame.

Rayman’s Song of the Day-I Love Rock and Roll by Joan Jett [VIDEO]

In the original version, the lyrics are about a guy picking up a young girl and taking her home, which was fairly typical Rock and Roll subject matter. When Jett covered this, however, it became a song about a girl who notices a guy next to a jukebox and brings him home to have sex.

Rayman’s Song of the Day-Surrender by Cheap Trick [VIDEO]

Though this was not a big chart hit, this teen anthem is one of Cheap Trick's best known songs. The singer thinks of his parents as a bit overprotective and kind of weird, but he gains a new respect for them at the end of the song when he wakes up and they are rolling around on the couch listening to his KISS records. Cheap
