Grandma's Marathon announced registration will be open for the 22nd annual William A. Irvin 5K this Thursday, March 12th, beginning at 12:01 a.m. This year's field will be limited to the first 2,000, just like last year.

The entry fee is $30 and runners are asked to register at www.grandmasmarathon.com.

The 3.1 mile race is scheduled to kick off the Grandma's Marathon Weekend and is usually used as a fun run for family and friends of the half and full Marathon runners. The race is a showcase of the beautiful view and is run with fanfare near the docked William A. Irvin Ship. Runners then enjoy a meal of Michelina's all you can eat spaghetti dinner with their families and friends.

Just a reminder, registration remains open for the 39th annual Grandma’s Marathon set for Saturday, June 20. The final entry fee increase occurs April 1 when the current $105 fee rises to $115, where it will remain until registration closes May 31 or until the 8,500 limit is reached. Currently, nearly 5,700 have registered for the Two Harbors-to-Duluth race.

Despite the lottery entry process for the 25th annual Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon being closed, there are a limited number of spots available through the race’s six charity partners. For more information, visit www.GrandmasMarathon.com or call (218) 727-0947.

Runners and race fans from around the world will participate in the 39th annual Grandma's Marathon weekend, which is presented by Toyota and Wells Fargo.
