Minnesota is hosting the Super Bowl later this winter and the ramp-up to the event has a lot of people talking.  One issue that has become a hot topic of conversation is the half-time performer;  over the weekend, officials announced that Justin Timberlake would be returning to the championship event to perform.

The move left a lot of Minnesotan's stunned.  Call it a naive sense of state-pride, but many had hoped that the performer would be someone like Bob Dylan or even an artist that has ties to the Midwest - like Bob Seger or John Cougar Mellencamp.  These folks argued that the planners missed a chance to involve someone that had Minnesota ties. However, maybe that's the very reason they picked Justin Timberlake.

As City Pages reminded many, Timberlake does have Minnesota ties:  He's married to Jessica Biel - who was born in Ely, Minnesota and lived there for a few short years before her parents moved.  Biel first started dating Timberlake in 2007 before tying the knot in 2012.
