A new venue for movies, small concerts, and other entertainment event will open its doors on July 21 - ushering in an option that promises to be "family friendly".  West Theater - located at 317 N Central Avenue - will be an "entertainment hub" - according to its official Facebook page.

West Theater will seat 250 people.  In news reports, the owner suggests that it will be a safe place for kids to go and see a movie economically.

Not only will the venue provide another attraction in the growing and revitalized neighborhood, it will also provide a link to Duluth's past.  The Art Deco building that houses the new West Theater first opened in 1937, shutting it's doors for good in the 1970's.  It was originally developed by Clarence Kaake and J.B. Clinton; Clinton was also one of the principals involved in the creation of the Enger Park Golf Course.

A special opening celebration will be held on Friday, June 21, 8:00 PM.  Click here for ticket details.
