United States Army Warns Of Text Message Draft Scam

Being a victim of this scam would definitely give you a good scare at first.

The U.S. Army Recruiting Command is warning everyone about a scam that started circulating across the country last week. According to their statement, people have been receiving fake text messages stating they've been selected for a military draft.

The messages said things like "we've tried contacting you through mail several times" and even threaten the person on the receiving end, stating they could be fined or sent to jail if they do not comply.

The U.S. Army Recruiting Command wants to remind everyone that, while this is a scam for obvious reasons, they would not have anything to do with a draft if one were to be in place and their operations are running business as usual.

Thankfully, it doesn't seem like anyone was harmed by the scam but receiving a message like this would understandably shake someone up.

As with any scam, don't fall for something right away. Do your research and take a few minutes to assess the situation before taking any action.
