UMD Men’s Hockey Going To Frozen Four
UMD Men's hockey team barely made it in to the NCAA hockey playoffs but have shown they belong there. With a slow start Friday night, they stifled Air Force to make it in.
Friday night they took on #2 region ranked Minnesota State Mankato and escaped with a 3-2 win to move on to Saturday's game against #4 seeded Air Force who pulled off a 4-1 upset of number one seed St. Cloud State.
Saturday Air Force couldn't get anything going until the second period. UMD held them to no shots in the first period, and AF couldn't get anything on net until halfway into the second period. UMD almost looked like they were just playing well enough to win.
After winning 2-1, that put UMD into the Frozen Four which is in the Xcel Energy center. They will face one of two really good teams. Either Denver or Ohio State. Both teams are were favored to move on. UMD will have a tough road, the Frozen Four starts on April 5th.
