Road crews will begin to fix a problem in South Superior that arose after traffic was reduced from two lanes to one.  Work begins on the project on August 1 and will impact commute times.

Most roadways are designed so that the path that vehicles takes avoid manholes and service lines.  When South Tower Avenue was converted to single-lane traffic, the resulting lanes left the tires of vehicles directly hitting these objects - which has resulted in a bumpy ride and safety concerns.

The scope of the project will occur between 53rd and 56th streets.  In order to correct these lanes, replace pavement and perform storm sewer work - the southbound lane will be completely closed to traffic and directed to the northbound side. Delays are expected - especially during morning and afternoon commute times.
