There’s A Blood Donation Emergency, Northland Supply Critically Low
The Northland is facing a serious crisis. Due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic and an extended period of less people donating blood, Memorial Blood Centers has issued an emergency. They have less than a two day supply of certain types of blood. They've even said they have had to ask hospitals to reduce their orders because supply is so low.
According to an interview with WDIO, 40,000 regular donors haven't returned since the pandemic began. They urge you to donate blood if you meet the eligibility guidelines. You can sign up online and it only takes about 45 minutes out of your day.
