The biggest highway project for the State of Minnesota in decades is coming closer to its target start date.  Once complete, the relocation of Highway 53 between Eveleth and Virginia will result in the tallest bridge in the state.  It will also impact communities, businesses, and the environment.

People who were holding out hope for a local contractor for the Highway 53 Relocation Project didn't get their wish.  Officials with the Minnesota Department of Transportation have announced the two contractors who will perform the work on what will become the biggest bridge in Minnesota when it's finished.

A popular Iron Range festival is about to happen without it's signature street dance.  The Lane of the Loon Festival takes place Saturday and Sunday, June 21 and 22 in Virginia, Minnesota.  The two-day fest celebrates the arts, crafts, and culture of the eastern Iron Range with a parade, food, music, and more.

A road construction project happening north of Virginia, Minnesota on Highway 53 will see some lane changes that drivers will want to be aware of.

Minnesota Department of Transportation officials are keeping the public informed of it's plans to re-route Highway 53 - near Virginia.  An Open House will be held on Thursday, November 15th - from 4PM to 7PM - at the Mountain Iron Community Center, during which the latest alternate routes will be presented.
