Taco Bell Offers Free Tacos 5/4 For Taco Moon
Is a Taco Moon something you might see in the 80s movie Porky's? Is it a Fraternity prank? Is it a moon made out of tacos? No to all of these.
It is a phase of the moon that looks like a taco shape. It isn't a phase that is officially recognized by astronomers and stargazers. It's actually a way for Taco Bell to get people to use their app. A quite clever one. Without even making a purchase, you can get a free taco by using the Taco Bell app.
According to Thrillist, between 8 pm and 11:59 on May 4th, you get on to the Taco Bell app and make an order, and you will get a crunchy taco for free. Taco Bell really wants to push the mobile app and people ordering ahead, so they made up this phase of the moon to call attention to the mobile app. This promotion is in 20 different countries, so it will be the biggest giveaway for this company ever.
Julie Felss Masino President of Taco Bell tells Thrillist, "As we're opening more and more restaurants internationally, we know the May 4 moon will take us to new 'heights' as we introduce ourselves to new future fans in a delicious way." Which, I don't know what it means. Why doesn't she just say, we saw that there was going to be a half-moon and since it will hit the day before Cinco De Mayo, we came up with this really great giveaway so that you would remember our business and get our app. We want everyone to get our app and this is a shameless way to get everyone to download it.
Download their app and get a free Taco. May the 4th, which is Star Wars Day. (May the 4th be with you.) Seems like the Taco people are stealing the thunder of Darth Vader. I wouldn't make Darth Vader mad Taco Bell.
